What imaginary and mythological characters inhabited the fantasy world and spiritual realms of our ancestors? From childhood, we all know fairy tales featuring dragons, goblins and wizards; surely we have met Baba Yaga, the Firebird, a horse with a golden mane or a deer with golden antlers and various other magical creatures. Which of them seem universal to us or are also found in the fairy tales of other cultures. On the contrary, we may not even have met some of those mentioned here. In this book, Peter Kuzmišín tried to collect those that are typical for the Slavic peoples and retell the best-known and oldest preserved stories associated with them. However, it is not just a fairy tale book: roughly half of the chapters are an engaging systematic explanation, dedicated to different types or categories of these beautiful, fantastic, symbolic characters.
