SVANTOVIT

Function: The embodiment of the god Dažbog, the son of the god Dažbog and the goddess Živa. Also called Svantovít, Svijatovid, Jutrobog. He is the god of light, fertility, harvest, as well as war and protection. He is the guardian of the moment of sunrise and sunset in the sky, as well as the autumn sun itself and the autumn equinox. He is the god of the present, past and future.

Image: A stout mature man, in red or fiery armor with a sword in a silver scabbard. Despite his age, he has a strong build and still has thick red hair and a beard. Svantovít rides a white horse and carries a red banner with a golden sun in his hands. Just like Svantovít's ensign, his cloak is also red.

Symbols: Sun disc, svarga, rooster, sacred red standard called station, great sword, saddle and bit. His number is four and the direction of the world is east. It rules the element of fire.

Sacrifices: Bread, pies, pastries, honey, honey cake, wine, grain, and weapons, as well as a portion of every spoil of war.

Holidays: New moon Day after the autumnal equinox.

Note: During his feast day, but not only during that time, Svantovit's ceremonial oracles were carried out and he was invoked during ceremonies and rituals for protection from dark powers. Svantovít combines the qualities of a god of war and economy. At the time of the autumnal equinox, next year's harvest was foretold from Svantovít's horn filled with wine, or from a honey cake dedicated to him. The ceremony of crossing the crossed copies with his sacred white horse predicted success in battle.
