USUD

USUD

Function:  The son of Mokoš and Veles, the eternal weaver and writer, is the god of fate.

Image: Appears as an old, gray-haired man with a long white beard. Most often, he is dressed in a brown-green robe and holds a book or a weaving boat in his hands.

Incarnations and descendants: Serča, Neserča.

Symbols: Book, weaving boat.

Sacrifices: Bread, wine, thread, wool, cloth, ribbons and money.

Holidays: Usud was invoked during divination ceremonies, but its biggest holiday is November 24.

Note: He knows how it was and knows how it will be. He weaves Všehomíra tapestry from the threads spun by the goddess Mokoša and his daughters Serča and Neserča. The tapestry is woven in such a way that everything that is on it will happen. However, it often happens that Usuda's daughters, and sometimes even Mokoša (Rožanice) herself, shuffle the threads of fate. Therefore, even what was woven in advance does not have to happen. Fate also writes books of fate, which are a reflection of his woven tapestries.
