CIRCLES OF OLD SLAVS

 Book description:

This book progresses as the wheel of the seasons turns with their festivals and significant milestones. Different deities are associated with each such period, because then is their holiday.
Each chapter first contains an explanation of the given holiday and the deity associated with it, and then one story: a folk tale or fairy tale.

The gods and other mythological beings of the ancient Slavs are inextricably linked with life itself, which in turn is inextricably linked with the natural environment of our part of the world - seasons, weather, elements - that is, with the linked rhythm of life and the division of work, duties, entertainment and other elements logically according to the cycle of the year. Thus, everything in the life of our ancestors revolved in a circle, or rather in concentric circles.

In addition, the final shorter part adds mythical figures and legends according to the cycle of human life: from the birth of a new person through his growing up and founding his own family to old age and death.

The theoretical text is based on preserved knowledge about customs mainly in our territory of Slovakia, but also in Ukraine and Russia. The stories or fairy tales are inspired by traditional fairy tales, while the author tried to preserve their probable pre-Christian form. The illustrations in each chapter are the work of the author.
