OSEŇ

OSEŇ

Function: Daughter of the goddess Pizmar and Striboga, called Jesen, she was entrusted with the care of the end of the agrarian year, or the end of summer, the period called autumn. She is also the goddess of sleep and dreams. Like her sister Vesna, she can be considered the goddess of life and water, but in the form of maturation and rest. Like her sister, she is very creative and therefore also a goddess of art. As the wife of the god Usuda, she has the ability to know the future, which she often reveals in dreams over which she rules..

Image: Autumn has become an invisible goddess, but she still sometimes appears dressed in beautiful brown clothes, but richly embroidered with gold and copper. Her rust-chestnut hair is usually fastened with a wreath of fallen leaves, into which ripened ears of corn and poppies are woven.

Symbols: Wild poppies, ripe ears of grain, multi-colored tree leaves. Among the animals, it is an owl.

Sacrifices: Bread, wine, grain, porridge, wafers and all ripe fruits.

Holidays: Its season is, of course, autumn. The August full moon, but also the day of the autumnal equinox or the day of the full moon after the autumnal equinox is considered her holiday.

Note: Her autumn holidays are associated with giving thanks for the harvest of summer and saying goodbye to warm days and preparing for winter. Until today, these holidays have been preserved in the form of harvest festivals or kermes.
